This powdered green tea has been used in the Japanese tea ceremony for centuries. The tea has an emerald green color and when consumed on its own, frothed up with a whisk, has an almost jammy-smoothness belied by a somewhat sweetly astringent cup.

I have developed a new addiction. It's this matcha tea. Delicious. And the feeling of well-being hits just a few seconds after taking a drink of this. I find myself thinking about and looking forward to another cup of Izu matcha. It is not as bright green as the photo, though, nor is it as bright looking as the Jobetsugi matcha I bought from another online store for a little more money, but I prefer the flavor of this one from Teaport.
